Research in AHSS
As Assistant Dean for Research in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (AHSS), I would like to welcome you to our Research Website.
Research excellence lies at the heart of what we do in the faculty. Our research is outward looking, critically engaged and globally focused. It informs our teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and it contributes to sustaining a vibrant postgraduate research culture.
In addition to the research work undertaken by individual researchers, our six departments/schools are home to a variety of Research Centres and Research Clusters. Many of these Centres and Clusters are involved in research which is multidisciplinary in focus. Our faculty publish their research with prestigious publishers and in highly ranked academic journals. AHSS researchers – both faculty and postgraduate students – have been successful in attracting European and Irish research funding (e.g. FP7, COST and IRC).
There are strong collaborative research linkages between AHSS faculty and internationally based researchers. Departments, Schools, Research Centres and Clusters organise regular research seminars in order to disseminate research findings by our own and by visiting faculty.
Our growing number of Postgraduate Research Students have a dedicated Postgraduate Research Centre and many of them participate in our annual AHSS Postgraduate Research Conference.
I invite you to read about the range of research activities being undertaken by the schools and departments within the AHSS Faculty.
